The Long-Hair Edit

Claw Clips for Long Hair

Long hair is heavier than it looks — your clip should act like it knows that.

The problem with long hair and most claw clips is gravity. A clip that grabs fine at 9am slowly loses the argument by lunch, and by evening the whole twist has migrated halfway down your neck. Every Sacrae claw clip is built around the patented Grip Link System™ — a black rubber-link tension band, where most clips hide a metal spring — so a long, heavy length stays where you put it.

Long hair is a weight problem, not a grip problem

Thick hair tests how much a clip can hold. Long hair tests how long it can hold it. The mass sits lower, it pulls down all day, and a spring clip slowly surrenders — it can only press from one point, and that point gets tired.

The Grip Link System™ holds along the whole link instead of pinching once. It keeps tension on a long length without you re-clipping it three times before dinner. That is the difference between a clip that looks good in the mirror and one that survives the commute.

A clip for long hair has to win an all-day argument with gravity.

Go large, and let the clip do the work

For long hair, size is not vanity — it is leverage. A bigger hold takes in more of the length, sits more securely, and stops the slow slide. Here is where to start.

Large — the daily twist

The Melissa Large Claw Clip gathers a full length into a clean twist or bun and keeps it there — Glossy Black or Tortoise.

Iconique L — the most hold

The Pince Iconique L in Mazzucchelli Italian acetate is the largest hold in the range — for the longest, heaviest hair and the updo that has to last.

French L — long and sleek

The Large French Yoga Hair Clip runs a long, clean line down the back — a flatter hold for long hair worn smooth, not piled.

How to clip long hair so it actually stays

  • Twist before you clip. A half-turn of the length gives the clip something structured to bite — it holds far better than clamping loose hair.
  • Size up for length. Long hair needs a Large or Iconique L. A small clip can only catch a fraction of the weight, and the rest drags it down.
  • Clip slightly higher than feels natural. Long hair settles as the day goes on. Start a touch higher and it lands right by afternoon.
  • The mechanism matters more than the look. The Grip Link band keeps tension on a long length where a single spring point gives out.

Still a hair accessory. Just a much better one.

Every clip here is made in France, finished in polished acetate, and arrives in a cotton pouch and emerald green box. The kind of object you leave out on the vanity — not the one you fish out of a drawer when the good one breaks. Small object. Serious standard.
